Scarab Beetles

Ok, now my laptop is making noises like it has beetles trapped in the hard drive.  Guess I'll have to take it to the geek squad again.  This will be a short post.  Weird day, but it looks like I have good news from Bank of America.  Shows my interest rate is going.....DOWN in August.  My mortgage payment is dropping by $100 a month.  I hope it stays that way.  Anyway, Kyle received two of his presents mom, and he left you a voicemail saying thank you.  I mentioned that you can't get your voicemail so send you an email.  Jessie is spending the night at Erica's and I'm heading to bed soon.  There are a few more things but I don't want to post them online.  Give my love to everyone there.

Another day, another sore glut...

So, working out at the gym finally caught up with my backside.  Or maybe it was the yardwork yesterday.  Whatever it was my backside hurts!

Don't feel as productive today as yesterday.  Drained the waterbed and moved it, went to Sharon's for a little while, brought them the coffee table so it's out of my house.  Submitted my storyboard for my web class, bombed a quiz.  That's about it.  Oh did do some cleaning in the kitchen and ran the dishwasher.

Bad days and good

Well, Friday started out not so good.  Work was annoying, so were some of the people there.  But Tiffany and I went to LA Fitness after and really worked out.  We did 30 minutes on the treadmill and then some hip adduction and abduction.  Then I introduced her to a couple of machines they don't have at Bally's.  Hopefully the prices at LA will come down soon and she can join my gym instead of Bally's.  Then I came home and ordered pizza for the kids.  Messed up Kyle's by clicking on Pineapple instead of Pepperoni but he survived.  Then Tom called me and picked me up and we went to Wekiva Island.  It was really nice, had a beer, sat by a bonfire.  Talked, then he took me home.  Took a full ambian then went to bed.  Worried about my folks flying to Newark and then England because their flight was delayed by 2.5 hours because of weather which would have made them late for their flight to England.  But Continental was great and held the flight to Bristol because my parents were 2 of 15 connecting from the flight.

So I went to bed and when I got up, Les had emailed me that my parents were safe and sound.  Mom was asleep and dad was golfing.  Somehow, according to Randy, that made sense.  So someone who wasn't speaking to me posted to my FB that she was glad they made it and to tell them to bring her a souvenier.  ha ha ha and she even commented on my post about having a good time at Wekiva Island.  Like I care that she was at the office until 6:30 or that I would have called her and told her I was going.  Yeah, she acutally posted that to my FB.  Oh well.  So I got up, tried fixing my computer which is still not working right but any way.  Jessie got up and we ate and then did yard work.  We cleared out all the weeds in the front planting area.  Now we just need to plant some plants.  I also mowed the east side of the side yard.  Then I showered cuz I was dirty.  But it felt good to clear all those weeds out.  Pictures will be coming soon.  After I showered and my body starting hurting from both the workout and the yard work.  I colored and highlighted Jessie's hair.  It came out really well.  Pictures were taken and sent to England.  So now we are watching Harry Potter and eating pasta and I'm going to bed soon.

Sleepy

Ok, so for some weird reason, I don't think I slept last night.  Not sure why.  I will probably crash tonight when I get home.

Yeah Friday

I really truly agree with the ole TGIF saying, thank God it's Friday!  Wahoo!  Only 6 hours of work and then it's the weekend.  I am planning yard work this weekend.  Weeding, planting, all that fun stuff.  Course I'll probably take a nap when I get off work today.  I've been very tired this week.  But it's my break between spring and summer semesters so I'm going to relax and enjoy and get some of the stuff that hasn't been getting done while I've been in school done.

3 down one to go

Wahoo, three classes are finished and one more to go and it's just go and listen to presentations.  This has been a busy semester for me with working full time and taking 4 classes.  Only need 5 more classes to go and I can test out of one of them probably.  Time to start working on my running again now that I'll have some time.  That and yard work and house work and all those things that have been on hold for the past 4 months.  Oh and Blogging, I can resume blogging again.

BRRRRR

Ok, last time I checked, I was living in Florida, not the north pole.  Where is my 90 degree weather and why are so many people here so happy that it's cold out?  They live in Florida, they choose to live in Florida, why would you live in Florida if you want cold weather?  I would really appreciate it if they would move north permanently if this is the weather they want so I don't have to listen to them all happy about it being 45 degrees outside.  Then there would be less traffic and less people and well, it would however still be cold.  I guess we can't have everything.

After the first mile

So I did go to the gym yesterday.  Was only going to walk/run for half an hour.  Started out slow because you want to warm up your muscles and not by doing jumping jacks or anything like that.  So I walked two laps then I ran two laps, then I walked two laps, and then I ran two laps.  That was a half mile.  I repeated this pattern for another half mile and then contemplated stopping.  But with the pending 3.1 mile race coming up and the fact that it was only 14 minutes out of the half hour I wanted to be there, I continued.  It's amazing how motivated you can get when you envision the headlines as you qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2010, 4 days before you turn 40.  That little fantasy kept me going for another mile, strictly walking but at not a bad pace.  Once you get the first mile done and hit the second mile, the third one doesn't seem quite so bad.  I even ran that last lap (well, hobbled is more like it) but I did it.  So 3 miles done in 47 minutes with a pace of 15:38 minutes per mile.  I just need to work on that a little bit between now and the 27th.  Oh that and being able to move the next day.  My legs are just a little sore, but I don't think it's from the running.  All the pain is on the back of my thighs which makes me think, it's from the weeding on Saturday.  Oh well, I'll try to run again tomorrow night.  I just need to bring it down to 14:30 minutes/mile to feel comfortable about the race in 12 days.

Running

In two weeks, I am running at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the Inaugural Expedition Everest 5K run, obstacle course and scavenger hunt.  My 16 year old son is my team mate.  Hopefully he'll wait for me to finish the 5k before he goes on with the rest of the events.  (actually he has to, we have to start the obstacle course and scavenger hunt at the same time.)  I've got about two weeks to get serious about doing some running.  Well, not really two weeks, I work full time and am taking three classes at SCC this semester so it's more like 7 days.  This should be a really neat race through the Animal Kingdom.  My doctor says running will help keep my weight down better than any diet.  I started getting Runner's World magazine and the people in the pictures looks so nice and toned, I want to look like them.  It would just help if I actually got out there and ran.  I did about an hours worth of yard work yesterday, weeding, bending over, picking stuff up.  My legs are a little sore, but since I have to go the grocery store and the gym is on the way anyway, I'll head to the gym first and run for about half an hour then go to the store.  Disney has a Princess 1/2 marathon starting in March that I would like to attempt and Tiffany said she would do it with me, so I guess I had better get running.

A Day at Disney

Spent the day at Disney yesterday.  Started out at Animal Kingdom.  Rode on Expedition Everest.  It was cool, a little bumpy.  Reminded me a little bit of the Tidal Wave from Great Amercia all those years ago.  Of course the Tidal Wave was my first roller coaster and it went upside down both forwards and backwards, so it has a special place in my heart.  Everest does go backwards but not upside down.  If that's the kind of action you are looking for, then you need to head to Disney's Hollywood Studios but I'll get to that in a moment.  We also went on Primeval Whirl at DAK which was very bumpy and jarring and something I won't go on again.

Then we headed to Kali River Rapids, btw, this was the only ride we got a Fast Pass for the entire day.  The other rides had 30 minute or less waits on them.  Once our Fast Pass time arrived, we secured our belongings in a plastic bag and hopped on the ride.  Let me tell you.  I got SOAKED! and while it felt nice because it was warm out I got SOAKED.  My denim shorts were still damp when I came home 6 hours later.  Not a pleasant way to spend the day.  Next time (and there will be a next time) I will either bring a change or wear shorts that aren't denim.  I also saw people change out of their trainers/gym shoes and put on flip flops to go on the ride.  I'm thinking that might be a good option.  Still it is a great ride for a hot day here in Florida.

Once we were done with Kali, we decided to Park Hop over to Hollywood studios.  My son wanted to ride the Rock-n-Roll Roller Coaster again.  We had gone last weekend just to hop on that ride and it was great!  A must ride every time we are at the park but first we headed towards Tower of Terror.  I have never been on this ride always thinking it too scary.  But slowly my thoughts were realizing that it wasn't spooky scary in the Horror genre but more exciting scary because of it's unpredicable drops.  So as we walked up to the two rides, the Standby time for Tower changed from 20 minutes to 10 so we went there first.  I won't give away too many of the details of the ride, it is something to be expericenced but I will say, as soon as we got off the ride, we were back in line to do it again.  The drops are never the same because there are so many programming options.

After that, we went over to Rock-N-Roll (which goes very fast and upside down) and the standby wait was 50 minutes (explains where everyone was from the Tower).  The Fast Pass return time as 7:15 and it was only 5:30 and I was tired so we used a little ...well not so much a trick but a little trick...we went in the single rider line.  This line is one of the tips for getting on rides faster at Disney.  If you are willing to split up momentarily and not sit together on the ride, then this is the line for you.  My son and I did make it onto the same ride just in different parts of the limo.  They use this line to fill in odd numbered parties.  Say a family has 3 or 5, well the single rider gets called to fill in the empty seat.  Took us about 20 minutes total to get on the ride.  Then we headed home.  Next weekend we'll be back at Hollywood Studios because it is Star Wars weekends and Darth Vader and Chewbacca are supposed to be there.
